The warmth of the rays awakened Luke as he felt them warm his face. He raised himself from the bed and stretched his arms wide while letting out a giant yawn. The memories of last night were still fresh in his mind. The storm causing the lights to go out, him searching for a candle, and him finding the picture of the most handsome man he had ever seen, Noah. Luke couldn’t get Noah out of his head. He had dreamt about him all last night. How could he dream about someone he had never met? Why did this Noah invade his thoughts so much? Luke knew that he had to try and put Noah out of his mind. He was never going to meet him in person anyway, so why become hung up on something that would never happen? Luke got out of bed and took a long, warm shower. He went into the closet and grabbed a pair of cargo shorts and a striped polo. He went over to the dresser to grab a pair of boxers, but on top of the dresser laid Noah’s picture. Luke couldn’t help but to pick it up and stare at the striking man. Something about him just made Luke weak and captured all of Luke’s attention. Several minutes had passed before Luke snapped out of his trance and placed the picture back on the dresser. He hoped that getting out of the house would help him to clear his head of this Noah fellow. He got dressed and drove into town. The town was very tiny. All the buildings were very old, and small. But something about it all felt cozy and comfortable to Luke. There were a few older residents sitting on the sidewalk in front of the pharmacy, the greeted Luke, and he politely did the same. He went into the grocery store and grabbed a hand basket. He walked up and down each aisle, grabbing items and tossing them into the hand basket. Luke wasn’t much of a cook so he mostly had fruit, cereal, milk, pop, and things he could microwave. He went to the counter to pay for his items and also bought a carton of cigarettes. He always hated the idea of smoking, but with everything that was going on in Oakdale it was a habit that he had picked up. As he handed the cashier the money, Luke noticed that she looked familiar. He just couldn’t quite place where he had seen her before. She was a beautiful woman, probably in her late forty’s, with blonde and grey hair. Her features were distinguished with wrinkles, as if she had lived a life full of worry. The cashier caught Luke’s strange stare, “Is there something else that I can help you with?” she asked quizzically. Feeling ashamed that he had been staring Luke quickly apologized, “No, no. I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to be rude. It’s just that you look kind of familiar. Have we met before?” “I can’t say that we have. I’ve lived in this town most of my life, and from what I can tell you are a newcomer. Am I right?” She gave a quick smile. “Yeah, I’m just staying outside of town. I needed to get away for a while.” “Well I hope that you enjoy your stay in our quiet little town. Not much happens here, not anymore.” The woman said, then a wave sadness washed over her face. “Anymore?” Luke asked, noticing the change in the woman’s demeanor. “I…I have to stock some items, if there is nothing else, have a good day.” She said as she quickly scurried into the back storeroom. Luke was dumbfounded and confused. What did she mean? And why did she seem so familiar to him? Luke drove back to the cabin and put away his groceries. He still couldn’t figure out why that cashier looked so familiar to him. And now that he was back at the cabin, Noah was stuck in his head again. Luke left Oakdale to take his mind off of everything; but now his mind was stuck on these new mysteries. Luke let out a sigh and started to pour some cereal into a bowl when his cell phone rang. He checked the caller i.d. “Ugh, Scott”. Luke silenced the ringer and tossed the phone on the table. Scott and Luke had been together for six months. Luke cared a lot for Scott, but he wouldn’t say that he loved him. That didn’t make it any easier catching him having sex with another man. Luke wanted nothing more to do with Scott, but if anything Scott was persistent. Which was all the more reason that Luke needed to get out of Oakdale. Luke’s cell rang several more times, each time it was Scott. Luke couldn’t take it, he needed to get out of there. He decided to go out for some fresh air. A nice late afternoon walk would do him so good. He walked to the backyard of the cabin; there he noticed a trail going through the thick brush. Luke made his way down the winding path, until he came to a very large pond. It was beautiful, peaceful, and serene. It reminded Luke of Snyder Pond. Beside the pond there was a giant log lying on the ground. Luke sat on the log and drank in his surroundings. The sound of the frogs, crickets, and birds was so soothing that Luke started to get drowsy. He lay in the grass next to the log and closed his eyes. Everything that was on his mind just seemed to melt away. Nightfall set in, and Luke still lay asleep in the grass. Luke opened his eyes to see a shadowy figure standing over him. His heart jumped, and he felt a pang in his stomach. He recognized the figure standing over him; he had pictured it a million times. Noah at the pond?? Oh my! Bring on chap 3. I hope Noah's gay! And I don't like Scott but you probably already guess that!

 Yeah Ang, I figured everyone would hate Scott Noah...gay? Hmmmm...I don't know...maybe....hehe
